Clown Threesome? Hmm? Or not...

OK, so I have a small problem, which isnt much of a "Problem". I bought a "pair" of very young perc clowns from the LFS, they werent an established pair or anything, but that was my hopes. Well, when I bought my tank, it came with a larger, mature perc clown. The larger perc and what is the larger of the two young ones seem to be hanging out with each other, while the little perc hangs out by himself.

I dont want 3 clowns in 1 tank. But I also want the best possibility of having a pair, if possible. With the smaller one probably being the male, how is there to tell if the larger is female? The larger one could have already been established as a female, from what I understand. so my clownfish could end up being.. well.... homosexual? "We're not gaaayyyyy.... (not that theres anything wrong with that)".

I just want a pair, or the best chance. I just want some young little clownies, hangin around, thatd be neato skeeto...

All clowns are born males and when they start to mate up one will change to a female. They can never change from female to male. Once the hierarchy is formed and the female dies the next most dominant male will change into a female. Females are allways larger than males and the best way to be sure you get a male and a female is get the largest clown you can find and the smallest one you can find. More than likelly you will have opposing sexs at that point.
