Clown killed by the light?

ok, went to LFS last night to burn a gift card, got a nice maroon and gold clown. did everything i was supposed to and this morning he was doing fine, a little shy but seemed to be ok. Within 10 minutes of me turning on my lights (Bio cube 14 with factory lights) he started acting goofy, running into things, etc. And then went stiff and died? Anyone have a clue about what happened? tank parameters all seem fine.

are there any other fish in the tank? the only reason why i would think that the lights would kill a fish is if there is an electricity leak into the aquarium.

my hand, snails, crab, and shrimp were all unaffected. its almost as if he was in shock. you could watch as $40 went bellyup in front of your eyes. If it was water or something else i figured it would have died overnight.

The fish World

Although I'm a newbie to reef aquariums I've been keeping saltwater fish for over 20 years. One thing I've found is that I ALWAYS ask the LFS to feed the fish before I take it home. I also ask about their quarantine process.

A prime example: I went into an LFS today and noticed that the shopkeeper was pulling 1-2 dead fish out of various tanks. Upon further inspection it really looked like some of these tanks were filtered by the same pump system. Thus whatever killed the unlucky ones could possibly be in the water with the rest.

I have a pair of mated clowns that I've had for 6 years. When I ordered them from my LFS they went into quarantine at the LFS for 3 weeks before he'd let me take them home. We went to visit them (kinda like seeing the new baby at the hospital) and it's been true love since.

No clue. I know for a fact that clownfish are virtually indestructible; especially maroon clowns. Well, not to that extent but the cause of death couldn't have been the lights. Could have starved but that doesn't sound right either.

... and I'm assuming that you dripped him as long as was necessary, etc.???
That's so weird - seems like lots of people have had weird sudden fish deaths lately (including 3 of mine). I started a thread on this forum called "Does this sound weird to anyone else?" and no one has been able to tell me what happened with mine, either.
PLEASE post if you figure out what it was - I have a feeling that info might be more help than you realize.
Good luck -
