clown goby compatible question.

So I bought a yellow clown goby and a flame angel for my nano tank. Everything seemed fine for a week until i saw that the flame angel had his eye injured and a fin nipped. I figured it was the clown goby attacking him and I moved the Flame Angel into the 55gl tank, and was able to remove the blue demon damsel from the 55gl tank by trapping him in a clear plastic bag. I put the damsel in the 10gl nano tank alongside the yellow clown goby they did good for 3 days until this morning that I saw my yellow clown goby with Ick!!

so my question is. after I do a fresh water dip.and make sure hes ok for a few days from now. could I drop the yellow clown into the 55 gallon tank and have any fighting issues especially with the flame angel ? I want buy a tang in the near future for this 55gl tank.

55 gl tank wich hosts a
clown fish
foxface
Flame angel (witht the beatend up eye from the yellow clown goby)
Diamond goby

corals.
Green zoanthids
mushrooms
kenya tree
pogoda cup
maze brain
frog spawn
hyper green trumpet
trumpet

as far as for the Damsel not harrasing the yellow clown goby during the night in the 10gl tank Im thinking on putting a small clear plastic box with ventilation holes in the tank and puting the goby inside and closing it so the damsel wont be able to get to him. would that sound like a good Idea?

Oh yeah I dont have a LFS here and the nearest is about 2hrs away so that eliminates getting rid of the Damsel for good. until maybe 2 weeks from now.

I don't think clown gobies are reef safe (with stony corals), but in your case it shouldnt be too much of an issue. Some of them eat polyps from stony corals. In any case, the extra space may stymie the aggression you've experienced, but there's no guarantee. Also, I wouldnt add a tang to the 55 gallon, especially if you already have a foxface (which can get rather large).

yeah I wont take a chance with the yellow clown goby I will continue to take care of him in the 10g tank until I get a chance to go to the LFS and turn in the clown goby and the Blue Damsel.

as for the Tang how long does it take until they get very big? I am going to upgrade to a bigger tank within a year or two. (500 gl or more when I buy my house.) So I was thinking I could transfer them into the new tank when that time came to be.

Which tang are you interested in? In 99% of the cases, they'll outgrow a 55 in short order (year or less), and most are unsuitable to be housed in a tank that small for any amount of time.

I'm also a big proponent of buying fish for the tank you have, and not the tank you want. There's no guarantees that you'll get the upgrade exactly when you hope.

So 75, I imagine you read that on a retail website, and I'd say it's considerably under-sized still. I had one in a 150 gallon and it was too big for that tank. These fish SWIM, and they want room to do so.

Not sure what to recommend that's blue in a 55 gallon setup.

hmm.... theres some blue on a six line but they're not all blue. Blue spot jawfish are beautiful if you have a sufficiently deep sand bed. I don't know anything as blue as a tang though. besides damsels... and damsels are the devil

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.
