blue tang question


my blue tang has ich its has been 2 days i put him in is that normal ??

I would not say it is normal but tangs get ich easily. That does not mean it isn't a problem as it can get worse if tank conditions are not ideal.

If you like provide details on the tank size, type of tank (reef or FO), feeding, filtration, other fish and also the size and species of the tang.

a 29g tank is a bit small for a hippo tang, min. size tank sould be 75g. hippos like most tangs are very Sensitive they need room to swim and great water quality. when i got mine about 1 1/2yrs and 7inches ago. It got ich i did nothing but mon. it and dip food in garlic the went away on it's own. did not get ich for the longest, until i brut home the naso tang from hell but thats another story you don't want me to go into.

yes it is normal. it is difficult to not have ich on a newly introduced tang. blue tangs are notorious for ich.

keep the stress down. small tanks do not help the stress much though.
