Black Ocellaris???

I bought this "black ocellaris" at the LFS about 2 days ago and was wondering why it wasnt completely black. The guy said that it wasnt mature and would soon turn jet black. The fish is about 2 inches in length and still has a little orange on his mouth and chin. I remembered seeing black ocellaris thats were about an inch in length but were JET black. Is mine going to turn. Is there a way to tell???

Yep, as juvi's they'll be more orange and then turn black as they mature. While there's no guarantee that it will completely change, I'd think it's likely to do so.

Mine are fairly large now & they still have a little orange on them. I'd say it's like any living thing, they'll grow & change at thier own pace.

My big clown acts like it doesn't even recognize the black one as the same species. The black one is pretty feisty too, I've heard the black ones can be more aggressive than the orange.

I think it would work if your tank is big enough, mine is 100gal so it didn't really matter anyway.

when they are born they look exactly like regular ocellaris! Its so weird how they can change. 95% of the TR black clowns will keep a little bit of the orange on the face. I had one pair from Australia that was 100% black. Beautiful clowns.
