aggressive yellow tang

Ok i have this yellow tang that is bout 2 and a half inches long and i have it in a tank with 1 blue lined trigger 1 huma huma trigger 1 dog face puffer and 1 valniti puffer.Well i just resnetly bought a pinapple trigger.Well when i put it in the tank the tang started hitting it with its spike so i took the tang out for a bit and rearranged the rocks in my tank thinking that would do the trick well it didn't the tang ended up killing my pinapple.I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on what to do about the yellow tang . thanks

turn the lights off complete darkness for about 3 hours...he will pick on him a little but will be fine...they are territorial for the 1st day...mine is 9" long and picks on everything the 1st day...even in the dark...but the next day it will be fine.......keep the lights off..I usually keep mine off all night!

tangs can be very aggressive to others in their same Genus. i am not very familiar with the Pineapple tang, do you have a scientific name for it?

well what i was wanting to know is how long does it usally take for them to come around mine had been in the tank for 2 days until he died lasnight i have no clue why my water quality is great um nothing has changed in my tank but for some reason any other fish i get seem to die i have taken the yellow tang when i bought the blue jaw. the yellow tang is at my lfs where i know the owner and he is going to keep him for me till which i thought at the time my blue jaw establish his territory.

it took almost 2 weeks for mine to really come out. even now after a month and a half it still hides if i move to fast near the tank.

getting them to eat is the difficult part. it is not that they will not eat anything, it is the fact that they are so shy. i am lucky that i am able to put the food in my sump (45' away and in the basement) and have it magically show up in the tank. this allowed the trigger to be out and about when the food hit.

they are also planktonivores so they need to fed often in order to keep them healthy. mine has gotten a bit thin since i was on vacation last week, he was only fed 3 times while i was gone. i normally feed once a day. sometimes twice a day on weekends.

i corrected it in the other thread, but forgot about it on this one.

unfortunately i am all out of Guiness at the time. maybe that is the reason, withdrawals.

yellow tang in 45 gallon

hey everyone i bought a yellow tang that was quite young about 3 months ago and put it in my 45 galon tank but a lot of people are saying i should bring him back because my tank is to small my tang looks happy he eats like every other fish and seems to be healthy would it be wrong of me to keep him in this tank or would he be ok in it as long as he doesnt out grow it ( if he does out grow my tank than i will give it back to my fish dealer and probably get another juvenile to take care of )
