ACTIVE colorful nano-fish?
Ok, I'm looking for a few suggestions since this is just getting depressing.
My 30g all-in-one is taking off far better than I ever imagined (parameters, growth, etc). So well, in fact, that I've chosen to make an SPS-dominated reef with some brilliant colors.
While expected, my fire shrimp stays in his cave and is seen about twice a day. My perc rarely leaves the rear wall, and now the royal gramma I bought today darted for the rocks and hasn't been seen in nearly 8hrs, except for when I fed early to coax him out.
I would REALLY like to hear some suggestions for very active and colorful fish that isn't afraid of 35x turnover!

Believe me, my fingers are crossed! You'll be the first to know if he does.
Any other suggestions tho? He's still only the second fish I have. I'm considering a midas blenny, blue-green chromis, yellow headed jawfish, or purple firefish.

How much do you want to spend? That is always a good question to start with.
If you have sand, then a fish I really like, and want to get myself, the Yellow Headed Jawfish; however, if I could get my wife to go along with it I would more than likely get the Blue Spotted Jawfish.

We have a firefish that is awesome in the nano at our house...not sure he would do well with the others though...as for the gramma...we have one in the 125 and he stayed hidden for the first week or two...he's been in the tank 5 or 6 weeks now and is out all the time...so I would just give him some time to get adjusted.

Great! I saw my first Midas in person yesterday at the LFS. I tried to buy him, but he was in the display so it was a no-go. They're ordering my small perc, so maybe I'll have them order a Midas as well.

Definitely cool, but along the same lines of the gramma's color. Looking for each fish to be unique, minus the clown pair of course.

Haha...well I feel confident enough in my tank and parameters to say that I could support a Blue Spot, but that's a bit much for me. The yellowhead looks excellent tho!

I'm very glad you posted - I was just telling my girlfriend today that if he didn't come out after a week, I was going to dig him out and bring him back. It's not the money, it's giving up a part of my bioload to an animal that I never even get to see. I'll give him the two weeks now, maybe even a bit more...

Be patiant with the royal gramma. They can disapear for days without being seen, once it gets comfortable it will come out and start to be social.
Wrasses are great. Perhaps a sixline. They have great color and are very social. They must be added last to the fish hierarchy though or they will pick on other fish.
gobies are fun too. a firefish, they are always in open water.

Yeah, I added the rock lifts to my 75 gallon yesterday and haven't seen my Royal Gramma since I put him back in. If I remember right it took about a week before he came out of hiding the first time I added him to the tank.

other fish
I agree with others about the 6-line wrasse, they are a good looking fish and very active. There is one in one of my little nanos, and he/she is the most active fish I have. It darts in and out of the LR non stop (except at night it finds a little nook and sleeps).
Blennies are one of my favorite fish, they have such a cool personality. In my opinion they are some of the neatest looking fish as well, but not always the most colorful.
If you have a plan to get a bigger tank, there are some other fish that you can get as juveniles and grow very slowly that are really nice too. However, I wouldn't suggest that unless you plan on setting up a new tank fairly soon.
