2 False Perculas
I want to add 2 false percs to my tank, all of the clowns down at the lfs are very tiny roughly 3/4 of and inch. If I buy 2 of them will i have problems with fighting? do they have to be a mated pair?

Reef, at 3/4" they don't even know what they are just yet. Much less a mated pair.
Pick out the two that are the brightest colored, not shy, eating well, and curious about every thing.
At that size - 3/4" - just a little bit of size difference will help too.

ya like spanky said, false percs change their sex later, and according to what other false perc is in the tank. Also the more dominant, aggresive bigger fish is usually the female when they do decide what sex they are going to be, then the other will be the male. Also i was told by a couple of people that if you have a clown that already had a mate and one died or got taken out of the tank from its mate, it can adapt to another mate.
someone correct me if im not complete on this one

i would say to get the bigest one thier and the smallest that would give you a better chance of them pairing up so they wont fight

At that size it won't even matter if they are exactly the same size. One will change sexes at some point. You will know because the female will start outgrowing the male very quickly!

I just bought 2 at the same size you are looking at the only difference between them is the color. One is really an orange orange and the other is more of a tan orange if that makes sense. I originally had 2 of the orange orange but one died a couple of days after I got them he just would not eat. So the remaining one started to hang out with a large coral banded shrimp. He would swim about an inch above the shrimps head and just hang out there all day. So I bought a second one now they are buddies and swim side by side all the time.

I have had trouble getting small tank bred clowns to live. I finally paid more for mediums and they did fine. I have noticed that many online fish people are now calling small clowns difficult shippers. Think they could be inbreeding them in captivity??
