Zoa? or not Zoa?
I have had these for over a year now. I think they are Zoas, but not sure of type. They are about twice the diameter of others that I have and the 'feelers' are short. Anybody have any idea?
The pics are in my album, the first 2 pics. I can't attach them because the kb 'exceed the forum quota'.

Doesn't really look like a zoa to me. Is that fully opened?

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

One of the pics (with me hand in the upper left) they are drawn up, but the other show them mostly open. They don't open fully, because the mushrooms keep stinging them. I've tried to get the mushrooms off, but no luck.

Looks like some kind of paly to me. Hopefully others have a better idea, and feel free to paste the pictures in the thread.

Yes they look like Palythoas (big zoas)
But they dont have the typical long frilly edges.
Could be some kind of shroom.

They look like button palys to me.
Here is a link to some kinds of them. Take a look and see what you think.

My vote is Paly as well. From your picture I think it maybe easier to move the palys.

a paly...palythoa to identify the simplest is a polyp which uptakes substrate to at least some extent to build its mass. Size has absolutely nothing to do with it
The vast majority of what you see referred to in this hobby as "palys" are not palys at all, but simply large species of zoanthus. Somewhere along the line people got it in their head that if its large its a paly. True palythoa generally grows in mats, not like the mat that grwos in between your zoas, but a serious mat.
what you have their are protopalythoa. These are about the only ones people do get somewhat right when they call them "palys". nuclear greens and purple deaths are a couple of the more commonly known variants of protos
I think yours there are rather nice ones actually.
