Xenia fragging in display tank?

OK my xenia is growing better than ever, but it is slowly working its way towards the filter intake and I am worried eventually a few stalks will get sucked into the intake. The rock that it is on is somewhat large and has xenia on two ends, it seems like it would be difficult to get the whole rock submerged in another container without crushing a few xenia or exposing them to air.

Would it be safe to run carbon, slice the bottom of the xenia I want to move while it is in the DT, then put it in a container and take it to another tank for reattachment?

That should be fine .
I would get some iodine and dip the new "frags" in a small bowl be for returning them to the tank first theo

And the Xenia stump will likely grow back in the DT?
