Whats wrong with xenia?
Is this xenia getting stung by the bubble next to it or is something else getting at it? It's all white on the side near the bubble. I hope the picture shows well enough to help. Thanks. PS - I cant seem to get my image size small enough to fit the format. Thanks anyway.

My Xenia is very sensitve, If a crab crawls over it it gets pissed off for a few days. Right now I have about 5 patched of it in 2 different tanks, One looks bad and the others look great. They do also from time to time go though a "shedding" process and look terrible through it. Mine also ususlly looks bad when it is detatching a limb while spreading.

If this, indeed getting stung, what can I do to move it from the bubble? I have never tried to move softies off of a rock before. is this the best solution? I will try to post a pic when I can get on my home computer. Thanks for your help.

I wish if I know! So far tried to scratch/tear by nail, cut by knife at the base of white xenia, and chop off piece of stone with metal cutters. All worked, but was not convenient.
With yellow polyps, out of tank (precise work), worked the cutting Fiji LR top layer with coral attached by utility knife - the rock is really soft.

if you can break up the rock. or place some rubble around the xenia and it should spread in no time. Xenia is some of the fastest spreading coral. Some actually consider it a "weed" If worse comes to worse and it dies you should have no problem finding some frags. I actually have it all over and would be more than happy to give a frag to a local reefer. if needed.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I think I will try to place a piece of rubble next to it. It is attached to a piece of rock with many veins - my fear is if I break that much off the bubble will be affected. Can you cut the xenia off with scissors or a utility knife? I have never had to frag anything so I am unsure how to do this. On a side note - you would think this thing would walk away from the attacking bubble but it has not moved. The others have had marched across entire sections of rock to get to their permanent homes.

Here's an update:
I cut the rock under the xenia and removed it. Unfortunately it released some brown stuff that landed on my toadstool leather and I guess stung it(?). After three days all is well and the affected xenia is in the trash. (it died) Thanks for all of the suggestions.

You shouldn't of thrown it out.If there is any part of it left on the rock ,it would regenerate itself.

Yes, there is a tiny piece on the rock. The rest had started to turn into mush and was floating around. I thought that it couldnt be good for the tank and got rid of it. Maybe the piece will come back.
