Stop my Green Star polyps

I really enjoy my Green Star polyps but I placed them on a large piece of live rock and they are starting to spread.

What coral can I place in their way from spreading over the entire length of live rock?

There is nothing else growing on this large rock at the moment. The live rock is near the surface getting blasted with light (12 watts per gallon/70 gallon tank) and is in a high current location with no fish?

If you really don't want them to spread, take the rock out and pull them off. I just did it with a rock that has acro, and they were encroaching.

Did you peel it back and cut it?

I was looking for a coral that would sting them back and not let them pass.

GSP will win the battle against most things. Not because they sting, but becasue they simply grow over whatever is in their way.

Pull the rock out, peel off what you can and then blow torch it so it wont come back. Simply peeling it off wont get rid of it.

No, Im not kidding.

If you want to keep some of it, keep it on a rock in the sand isolated from the main reef, or glue it to a wall or overflow.

Mushrooms v.s Green Star polyps .....who wins

If I create a line of mushrooms in advance of the creeping Green Star Polyps, will:
a. The Mushrooms hold the line
b. Green stars go around them like water
c. Mushrooms start to overlay the Green Stars.

Mushrooms and GSP can co-exist for quite a while. The gsp will no doubt grow right through the mushrooms, and stunt their growth and given enough time would probably kill the mushrooms. Some mushrooms could tolerate it longer than others.

The mushrooms will not even slow the gsp from spreading, it will go right through/around them

You like safe bets huh??

Even with 100 to 1 odds against, I would still take the GSP. I like safe bets too.

I would seriously rather have my reef infested with aiptasia than gsp. Aips are easier to kill/erradicate.

Ive had little patches of it still survive my blow torch method. I was pretty sure it worked, and i didnt see any gsp for 8-10 months.......but a couple tiny patches of it still survived. Then I REALLY blow torched it. Your rocks turn this really cool orange color for a few days after the torching.

What did you do to get rid of the aiptasia?

I have real little ones, little like in the size of this letter " i " fully extended. I have squirted Joe's juice on them. They don't go away, just stay hidden for a week or so before popping back out. I don't think Joe's juice works very well on the small ones.

The only way I have gotten rid of some is by pulling the rock out and chiseling off the live rock with a screw driver.

Is there a SPS I can stick in the way that will stop it?

I was thinking of sticking a Star coral (Galaxea) in their way. They are know for stinging everything around them.
