Never add iodine...
it is already in you r salt mix. you can over dose your tank.
attaching muchrooms can be done a few ways.
a rubberband to rubble may work,
i usally place a bowl with a few dofferent pieces of rubble in it , i allow the mushroom to attach it self , this happens usually in a few days. in my nano , the mushrooms were "just" places in the tank where i wanted them, becasue of current of the flow, they stayed in the spots. they now in turn have become many.

as far as eating,
most if not all will curl up and close around food and bring it to its mouth in the center of the body

I agree with the above,.. I never feed mine, and a tank that is generally dirty will make them explode like crazy! They are capeable of taking phosphate and nitrate directally from the water, and they love rotting food laying around.

Of course so does algae

Some great pics in this thread!
