Hello Everyone,
i have had a
toadstool for about 6 months that was doing fantastic. It had doubled in size before the problems started.
All my water params seeme ok.One day I noticed that the leather had developed a bleeched area on its cap. It was still opening and closing fine. About a week afte that, I noticed that the bleeched spot stayed moderately the same size but there was a small black spot on the coral, about half the size of a penny-maybe smaller. When I shot water at the spot with a turkey baster used in the tank, it blew a rotted piece of the toadstool off and a hole was visible through the cap. Since then, 3 more black rot spots appeared. Every time i blow the toadstool off with the water jet at that spot-I have another hole. Just last week, the toadstool started leaning-nothing dramatic but it is leaning.
What is happening to this leather? Is it a parasite? Could it be waterflow? Anyone experience this before?
Also, I bought a brain frag from the LFS and it has started to shrink. i had it at the top of the tank near the light with a lot of water flow. Should I move the brain down to the sand bed and off this high live rock location? Any help is appreciated.
