Palm Tree coral Ill?

I got this palm tree coral last week and I think he looks sick?

As for my tank 125gal
Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 0
Phos = 0
PH = 8.3
Temp = 80
SG = 1.025

Let me know what you all think. He's been this way since I got him (actually looks much better as far as opening up), but I just don't know what it's supposed to look like when it's happy. It was mail order so I didn't get to see him before I got him.

looks ok to me, not sure if its the lights or not but seems a little bleached maybe, but if it was mine I would be happy with that look.

Yes exactly...bleached is the word I was looking for! All the pictures of them I've seen they look darker, and this one is almost white with teal inside the polyps. He's been opening up though so I guess I'll just give him some time and see what he does.

What causes bleaching in corals?

a corals "brown" color is from its symbiotic zooxanthellae algae.

when the algae leaves the corals tissues, the coral looses its color, and also looses a food source. If you can I would give them a little blender mush, and see what they do. supplement feeding can help the recovery go a little faster.

Your Palm tree looks ok. I've attached a picture of mine for a healthy reference. IMO, as long as the teal/green doesnt start bleaching, you should be happy cuz its happy. Clavulaira can take high light. Not like SPS but high for a softie.

if yours is bleaching, it might be because its getting to LITTLE light.

palm tree coral

I don't like the way yours looks...it should be brown all over not just the bottom...take him to a specialty marine fish shop and have them look at him. I took a picture of mine to show you how they should look...let me know how it turns out please!! good luck!!
