checked back and the polyp was fully closed and then checked back later and it was fully open, so im assuming the snail met its end.

I have a ton of little baby snails, at least that is what I call them, which I think are the stomatellas. Their shells are hard, but that doesn't mean it is the same for all snail species. So, I really don't know.
