Welcome to TRT!

Most softies are pretty hardy such as zoanthids, palythoas, and mushrooms. If you want a really tough customer look for a star polyp or other corals that grow as mats. Even the simplest won't grow under a single standard fluorescent and I am unfamiliar with the tank you speak of. What kind of lighting do you have?

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Hi jenglish
thanks for the reply.the tank is a 28g nano marine reef aquarium.up grade from the 24 nano tank i think. Its a plug and off you go tank.the lighting in it is a 150w metal halide light.skimmer powerheads and filters. I think all the gear is there for a reef set up.

Sounds like you have plenty of light for any softies you would want as well as have power for any stonies you wished to ry down the road. There are many different colors of zoanthids and they are quite hardy. I am not exactly sure what all corals are available where you are located. besides the ones I mentioned above look into Xenia and kenya tree corals. If you look at Liveaquaria.com, they have many pictures and descriptions of their corals that are a good beginner guide. Happy reefing

No problem Soft corals is more of a specialty forum, if you post in General Reef more folks probably would have been along to offer advice. I might look to see if there is a reef club in your area, it can be a great place to get advice as well as find hands on help or trade frags of coral

Welcome to TRT!!!

Definitely check out Live Aquaria's section on Nano Corals. With the metal halide over that tank you should be able to keep just about any coral you want, but it is good to start with some of the more hardy species. Best of luck with the new system.
