new frags wont mount

Hey folks,
I just did my first fragging about 2 weeks ago and am very excited as everyone is doing great. The only issue I am having is that the LFS won't take them if they aren't mounted. I have them on some rubble rock and I figured that if they didn't move they would attach to the rubble. NOT. These are colt coral and are already growing again. Any suggestions on mounting as they need to find a home. Thanks.

some folks would put a lightly tightened rubber band around them to hold them on the rock. have you tried that?

Another trick is to use those mixed drink swords. Push them, carefully though the bottom of the frag. Use rubberbands to hold the swords to the rock. When the coral has fused to the rock, you can pull out the sword.

I use fishing line to tether my frags to coral, and just to make sure that they don't come loose I also use coral glue (just a dab) to make sure that it does not shift off of the rock. It takes anywhere from days to weeks for some frags to take hold. I have purchased frags from other aquaculturists that were not fixed to rocks, but tied to them. The glue plus tying the frags to the rock works well for me every time. Practice makes perfect though.

Thanks for all of the good suggestions, folks. I think I will try the rubber band method. The head salt guy at my LFS suggested rubber bands and placing in small plastic dish inside tank so nothing will disturb it. My thoughts are that as soon as I do that, my crazy clown fish will go in and try to host it. Just rubber bands for now.
