Ok, here the update, nothing new with up keep, still in Refugium and still doing great, opens almost every night, here is an updated pic from about 5 minutes ago, main refugium light aren't on yet.

http://www.thereeftank.com/photopost...IMG_2181_1.JPG

Seems like there is some new growth but it is really slow, will need to compare to old photos to know for sure....

Otherwise that was the best move I ever did was move to refugium now it is a no brainer.... (or at least it seems.... no additional feeding or any other chili specific tasks...)

Cool that yours is doing ok, glad it survived the crashes and everything....

Chili is still doing great, it is still in the refugium which gets lower light. I goes through streaks of fully inflating or just staying slumped but usually only lasts a day. I haven't done any special feed for at least 6 months, figured it is getting plenty of food in the Refugium. The one thing to note is that is really hasn't grown much at all, I will probably start trying a more regular feeding schedule soon to see if it will grow more.

So has anyone fragged a chili coral, I am thinking about trying to frag mine; I want to try and do a couple frags, 1 so I can get the chilli back into the main tank, want to try a frag back under an overhang that I have and 1 to possibly sell later as a frag....

Just curious if anyone has done it and how it has gone....

Thanks
Cary

chili

So Cary...did you try to frag the chili? Looks pretty fascinating, I'd love to give one a try if you do.
I'm more than excited about getting some new corals tonight...perhaps I'll see you at Jason's?

no, im sorry to say i never got around to aquacultering my Chili coral...been too busy with the SPS & zoanthids, i dont have much room in my aquariums anymore but im currently seeking any more chili corals that are healthy, there getting sort of rare.

i would love to see you frag the coral & keep updated on this process...i suggest cut it as normal..with SPS style cutting... glue it with a tiny drop of Gel SuperGlue, not the water type glue.

glue it out of the tank so it attaches better.

Good Luck

Thanks ChillisREasy, yes still doing good, I haven't tried the fragging yet, might not get around to it until after the holidays are over and done, I think I am going to try one small one to begin with but who knows...

Fragged the Chilli Coral....

Ok, I did it tonight got bored and at least did one frag to see how it goes.....

Here is before the fragging....

Here is the piece that is fragged off...

Here is a close up shot of the placement...slight overhang...

Bigger view of the placement to show the over hang...

Want to see how this goes before fragging anymore...I might actually have this one a little to much in the light and I don't think they light the MH's. But we will see how it goes, wanted to make sure it was far enough away from the Anenomes...

I will post an updated pic of it open more as soon as it does... (crossing fingers....)...

Cary

Nice Job on the fragging i dont think the MH will hurt it much...mine was under 150w 10k & 14k for almost 1 year & it always expanded its polyps, water flow is more important. just make sure you feed the frag good.
