Mushroom spitting out something odd

The hairy mushroom I've had for a about a month has been acting strange for the last few days. For lack of a better description it seems to have spit a bunch of noodly stuff that looks like intestines. I can't get a good picture of it but I found this image:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Im...._inchoata.JPG

Does anyone know what it's doing?

ur mushroom is fine man just give it time .. how much have u moved it/touched it and what not? when i first got a few of my mushrooms i was tryn to get them to settle and attache them to rocks and i was constantly moving them untill they stuck and they did the same thing ... its a possibility that they tasted somethign they didnt like considering thats their mouth ya know??? just give him some time he might have ate something thats not agreeing with him ... and he is getting rid of waste he doesnt want in his body .. u have to think that corals are living things just like humans if somethign gets into there system they dont like they will dispose of it the only way they know how thru the only opening htey have which in ur case is a caoral and he is throwing up lol thats how i took it and a few hours later he was fine ... he could be just exposing his membrane to filter feed how are u running ur tank??? do u add chemicals or are u just doing water changes? ? ? are u giving ur filter feeders enough to eat???? that could be a reason he is spilling his guts also ... he may not be getting enough food...think about it ...

they're messenterial filaments, do a seach for them. usually not a big deal, they should retract over time.

Yep, just leave it alone...don't mess with it anymore and it should be fine.

Thanks for the info, I recently got some neon gobies and one of them has taken to sitting on those particular mushrooms.

I only do bi-weekly water changes and I feed the tank frozen brine shrimp every other day, I run some chemipure elite in the back chamber along with some chaeto on a opposite lighting schedule.
