It may be, but Xenia can be a finicky coral at times. For many people it grows like a weed and will take over their tanks if not trimmed back. In other systems it just melts away.

Many people believe Xenia like higher nutrient levels in the water. I have a 50 gallon tank that is sort of a stand alone refugium experiment and the Xenia was doing very well in it under power compact lighting. I added a CPR Bak Pak 2R skimmer on the system and within 4 days the Xenia shriveled up and the large patch is now just about completely gone. Unfortunately it is one of my wife's favorite corals.

Yes, they like darker places in the reef and will benefit from direct feedings as well.

Kenya tree Coral are a good one. There very hearty, they eat thru photosynthysis so you don't have to feed them, and there very cool little corals .
