Leather Coral

I had a finger coral die on me a while back but I think it was sick when I bought it.

But NOW my yellow leather coral looks a little funny.

Do I just have bad luck with Leather coral?

Any advice on the best way to keep them happy?

Can you describe funny? are the polyps extending? does it looks waxy and smooth?

Can you tell us about your tank ?

Water parameters ?

Lighting?

Flow ?

I have compact florescent lighting and it's protected from any strong water flow. The color on it looks great but I haven't seen the polyps in days.

It may just be molting. Give me a few minutes and I will try to post a picture of my brown toadstool that is just coming out of molt. It had no polyp extension for a week, until this morning.

Mine just finished molting for over a week. It limps down a bit and had me concerned as well. I have only had mine for about 6 weeks. and this is the second time it has molted. I have mine close to the top and it seems to like lots of current. This morning it was back to its 7 inch spread with all of its polyps out.
Give it time I say.

Here is the photo of mine coming out of molt. Notice all of the tissue that it is sluffing off. At this point it had retracted all of the polyps, but you can still see the pimples where they come out. For the last week you could not see any of these pimples or anything else and it was quite limp as benzzz stated. This is how they grow and is a natural part of their life.

I hope that helps.
