there are several variations of them and the common name can be different from region to region.

before my favorite LFS closed shop they had some and they were labeled geospongaiouse ( pardon spelling ) or some thing like that . well any way the "buds " or "polyps" at the end of the fingers dont open up much more then they are in the pic. the only thing it does is extend its finger out more .

question when you touch it does it feel slippery?
it really looks like a colt coral. but htey fall under a few differnt Sci. names
one possible one is Alcyonium and the other i am thinking about is hte Cladiella the Variation that is the Alcy. are usally slippery to the touch, the Clad. are a bit more rough.
just a note to add. other names we know each are
colt coral, broccoli coral, and cauliflower coral ( all are under the Alcyonium).the colt coral, finger leather, blushing and Cauliflower corals are also under the subclass Cladiella . i belive the region where you live is part of the differnt names we see sometimes.

not sure if it is a devils hand .. but good call.. something else to look at!

the lighting for each type of coral we have mentioned so far really need a good amount and type of lighting. placement can be the middle to top of tank.
