Help Please - Sick Colt Coral

My colt coral which I purchased about 3 weeks ago was doing fairly well for a newly added coral, but then I noticed that for that past few days it was not extending and really contracting it was not extending at all. I had it placed in the middle of my tank so I moved it up higher near to the return. Today I noticed it has white spots that look like something has been taking bites out of it. I watch all day to see if something was attacking it but saw nothing, also it is not stretching. My water parameters are perfect no ammonia or nitrates and all my other corals look great. I did have a slight problem over the weekend with the heater, the tank got to about 84, however I took care of that and it is holding steady at 79-80. Any ideas on whats happening

can you post a picture of the area?
two questions ( okay 3)
what is your SG level,
what type of lighting
have you seen any type of bugs/slugs around it , you may have to look at night with the lights off to see them

The SG is 1.2
The lighting is 2 10k and a blue
I think it may have been the postion in the tank.

whe you say SG level you mean 1.2 ppt ? it shoudl be 33-35 depending on what you use to measure. or 1.025 if you are only reading 1.20 then the level is too high and this will cause it not to open and keep receeding.
double check your reading agin for me if you will

i have a colt coral for about a 7 months it seem like mine is picky also when i first got it it was under PC lights 260w then i upgraded to MH 500w it shrunk and got relly small. It did not like the flow and was really small. after 1 week it got better and opened up about 8 inches wide and about 11 inches high. then i moved it about half way up the tank closer to the MH and he loves it there he is extended to the maximum of 15 inches wide and 14 inches tall and all his little flower on the arm are all poped out looks really nice and it love microvert also sometimes just give it time if something changes in the tank he will be a little limp for a couple days. mine does that with WC it will get a little small for half a day after.

try raising the level a little bit more.
the heat from the weekend may be what is effecting it
