Help for a Newbie - Corals and Stuff

Okay, I have a couple of questions for the reef gods (and goddesses)...

(1) I bought a star polyp yesterday and placed it in may tank close to some zoa's and noticed this morning the zoa had a sweeper out - never saw that before. I know to keep my galaxea away from other corals, but is this an issue with zoa's?

(2) Is that a zoa or a paly and what is the difference? Anyone got a name for the one I have?

(3) I also saw a fuzzy ball next to my mushrrom (in the picture on rock to right of zoa's), never saw that, but this is the first time I saw the mushroom pulled up a bit.

(4) also saw a small snail (musta hitched), no picture, but not astrea or nassarious, nor seen this type in LFS, any ideas where I can get a listing of snail images?

The tank has been up 8 weeks now and appears to be doing well and my daughter scored in her soccer game today, so life is good!

hi,
i am not a reef god but will try to answer as much as i can..

yes mive the GSP away from the other corals! actully move it as far as you from anyone!!! they will slowly but surly take over anything close to it.
to Zoa's are defening there area. also becareful when you handle them too, they do have a toxin.
the green fuzzy mushroom, can you get a better picture of the spot under it?
as far as the snail, can you desc. the colors and shell shape?
also in our archive section under the bi weekly we had a invert discusion and had many pics of crabs and snails

Thanks Tim, it's amazing how much a person can learn when he gets off his duff and looks........

The snail is a nerite, found some picks depicting such, it is a hitch-hiker as I have not bought any; and I now know that zoas and palys are in the same family and palys are referred to as button polyps and zoas as matt anemonaes; and I'll try to get a better picture of the fuzzball as soon as I figure out how to manually focus the digital and my wife is not sleeping in the room.
