Having some trouble with my gsp

I have a nice patch of gsp that is around 4 maybe 5 inches and its been doing really well other than some algea that was growing on it. I removed the algea by hand about 4 days ago and since then it has not fully opened back up. there are 2 sections about an inch wide that are opening, but the rest of the mat is completely closed. I donno what is wrong with it. Im pretty sure my params are ok havent had them tested in a while, but they are usually always good and nothing has changed. I am a little worried though because they are one of my favorite corals in my tank due to the bright flourescent green they have. I know they are a very good sign of issues in the water, but I cannot think of what is wrong any ideas?

No I made sure that all of the polyps were withdrawn before I began removing the algae. They may be stressed because before my lights went out tonite I checked on them and a few more polyps were open. Im just concerned that the amount of polpys that are open cannot absorb or filter enough nutrients for the colony.

if the polyp openings were crushed it will cause that...flow is the best way to remove algae as it wont crush the mat
