almost no coral can survive that, bio-load will not support it, chemical over load, bad water Quality, too high of temperature, just to name a few problems.

Nah, you can do it with some green star polyps or zoanthids. A weekly .5 gallon water change will probably be sufficient for nutrient export, and a simply PC light fixture can sustain those corals.

I have a 5 gl and I keep a frogspawn (3 heads), some mushrooms, and a candy cane (3 heads) coral in it. I have a clown that is hosting in the frogspawn, a coral banded shrimp, and a pincushion urchin. The lighting is 2 x 9 pc's. I do 1 gl water changes every week and blow off the rocks w/ each change. I have a mini-jet 440 for circulation, and an Aquaclear hob filter that I use only for circulation - no media in it. Oh, and about 7 lbs live rock.

I would vote for mushrooms since they require little light and can tolerate less than ideal water conditions. It also doesn't need high calcium and alk levels either or much water movement.

I have a 3 gallon reef. I have some button polyps, 2 mushrooms, a couple groups of star polyps, and a few xenia. All are doing well, but the xenia is difficult. I change 2 quarts of water every week.

I almost forogt, i have a purple looking leather one too. It just finished shedding. The blue leg hermit crab looked like it was helping it do so.
