I have 12 gallon tank with a Compact, energy-efficient Fluorescent Lamp,5000K 13W. I was looking at some xenias and glove polyps as well. But i figure they need to be small

I am not postive that they will grow small given the size of the tank,
Mushrooms like your Clove polyps and Xenia like a tank that can be both it in nutrience and low too.. i belive they will grow as they normally would. and split on there own when they are ready or you do it for them.

that is one of the cool things with mushrooms, you dont have to frag them, they do it themselves.

that is one thing that is interesting about mushrooms, there are sooooo many variations and type out there, some like the stronger flow, some like the low or almost no flow..
