I have a 150 gal tank with 2 400 watt 20,000 k lights. I had 3 large BTA anenomes and now they are disappearing. My mushrooms are also disappearing. we have had the btas for a year, they started as a little 4 inch one and we ended up with three huge anenomes one about 10 inches and the other two at least 6 inches when fully inflated, they were the center of attraction in my tank and the breeding clarkii's loved them. it is very dissapointing to lose them as we were very proud of their growth. they are almost completely gone now, one of them is in the back but has been very deflated. I had the water checked yesterday by a fish store and they say that the water was o.k. I test the water weekly and it is always good. I change the water 30% every 2 weeks because the water always tests good. i dont think the mushrooms and anenome deteriorating are linked as mushrooms always tend to be a bit funky.
But we are totally stumped as to our BTA dissapearing, maybe it was just their time to go, every testable parameter is and has been fine, we make our own RO\DI and aerate our SW for a few days. The tank only has a few fish and other corals include, mushrooms, small
leather coral, large
green brain coral thats grown from about 4" a year ago to about 8" now which has been thriving. A bright green plate coral that has not grown much but is still healthy and very vibrant, and a large fuzzy mushroom that doubled in size since we bought it and seemed to be splitting but now that has been deflating for the last week or so.
Please anyone help us with any suggestions as to why we lost our anenomes.
Thanks alot
