Can I ask a silly mushroom question?

What's the difference between a Ricordia and a Yuma?

The ricordia yuma is a different species that grows larger than the regular ricordia, as far as how can you tell which one you have, I have no clue, I hope someone else will tell us.

not bad...
to add to that..
you cannot really go by how they look, they will have "pipples" or rounded surfaces or even a pokadot look to them ,the tentacles can be either long or short.
the Ricordea Yuma is from the indo-pacific area.
these are found in both sallow and deep waters but seems to do better in turbid waters.

even though the yuma can come in a lot of colors(pink, brown,or green), it is very dull looking compared against the R.Florida variation( red, green, yellow, blue, and orange).

When I first hear about the yuma I thought it was from the city I live in, Yuma Arizona. But there is nothing but desert sand here.

do you mean the Fuzzy mushroom ( Discosoma sp.) or hairy mushroom ( Rhodactis sp.)?

now the Rhodactis does fall under the family Discosomatidae. But it is argued that it should be seperate. ( i will see if i can find these, this includes DNA work fdone on the in in the 90's)

honestly i belive there is a very very thin line that is pretty smudged between all of the variations..
