There is actually nothing you can do to make a clown host. Some do and some dont. the anemone has little to do with it, although there are some clowns that perfer one over another.
Google " clown fish anemone compatability" i have seen charts.

this is nowhere near a RULE for clownfish/anemone hosting, but it is a great chart ...

as far as I know clowns won't host in condy anemones.
If you already have a BTA just look for a clown already hosting in an anemone at the LFS where you buy and it will most likely host in you anemone. Tank raised clowns may not host at all. I have a pair of acellaris and they won'thost at all I had a BTA for 18 months and they never touched it. I bought a gold stripe clown and he stays in my BTA

my maroon clownfish hosts mostly on my carpet anemone, but sometimes he goes in the condy. I think its possible, but definitely a preference of the fish

mine went in within about 2 seconds - but I'm sure fish differ, as I said before I had 2 clowns in a tank with my BTA for about 18 months and they never went in

its not all that common.......but they will
I have a condi hosting a clown. I actually just added a mate for the clown a month or so ago.
The odds were pretty good that the tank raised clown I added would get eaten before it worked out. I tried anyway.
The clowns hit it off immediately. However, the first few days the existing clown did pull the new clown out of the grasp of the anemone 5 times that i saw, so who knows how many times it really happened. Now The new clown has slimed himself up so he is safe, but she wont let him in the anemone, even though the clowns do the dance. She seems to be letting him closer and closer, but still not in. She will now let him within a couple inches but thats it. kind of a funny little arrangement.

A week is definately not enough time. It may take months, and again, it may never happen. There is no guarantee with clownfish.
