Question

Another Mushroom Question - Behavior?

I'm curious about mushroom behavior. Got a rock with about 12 'shrooms on it a week ago. They looked nice like this...

And then a day or so later I noticed a few of the mushrooms all curled up...I was sure they were dying...

They next day they looked bigger again...so I realized that they must change...that must be normal, right? Is the change caused by light or feeding or changing water conditions...or is it just a random behavior?

This evening they looked huge and puffy and proud...waving in the flow...(Can you tell that I'm new at keeping these kinds of creatures?)

Sometimes when they are getting used to the light, they can change like that for quite a while. I have similar ones and it has taken about a month for them to settle down. Still one almost completely bleached. I would find what you think is a good spot and let them settle in.

The mushrooms are gone....

In about three days they disappeared. I added a flame angle..the guys at the LFS said he wouldn't touch the mushrooms...but they're just about all gone now. Added the flame on the fourth...today is the ninth and nothing happened for the first few days. I never saw anything touch the mushrooms.

And the punch line is....the angel is dead. When I got home from work I immediately saw the missing mushrooms....and coudn't find the flame.

He had jumped and was dried out on the floor. Long time since I've had a jumper dry out on the floor.

Do you think the mushrooms will replentish?

There were 13 mushrooms on the rock...now there are 4 and one itty bitty part of one left...would a flame angel do this mischief?

the lighting or current could have been to strong and they are either under the rock or somewhere else in your tank...i once had a bunch of shrooms abandon ship and found them behind my rocks near the back glass..shrooms are weird sometimes, they pop up all over the place..sometimes months later
