Algae

Hello,
I have a question about algae. I have two types of algae growing in my tank that i dont know is neutral good or bad. The first type is a red algae that is along the back of my tank on the floor, the second type of algae that i have is like a green carpet that coats the bottom and lays on the sand. when i do my water changes it starts to go away and when i turn the light off it kind of dissolves. what is the deal with it? is it because of the lighting is it promoting it?
i have a solar light that has one lunar light and has one bulb that shines white and blue LFS said that it is a good light to go with for corals and anenomes which is waht i want to do, i dont know the wattage off hand

For the red slime algae you want to keep the lights out some more and for the green algae you can go out and buy some Algaefix or if you have a big enough tank get a lawnmower bleney and a sandsifter gobey. and if u can find one a sand sifter star that wont eat ur corals.

I don't know of any algae that I consider "good". But it really in the eye of the beholder. Generally we would look at flow, nutrients, and filtration along with your lights to see why algae is doing so well. You may get more traffic if you have a Mod move this to Pests Hitchhikers and disease or General reef
