4 strpe picking at polyps

I have a chunk of rock with, I believe they are dandilian polyps, but not sure I'm new to all of this. When I brought it home it was all open, it had bright green centers with soft leaves. They all of the sudden were gone one day, about 2 weeks later i saw some coming back out and then a 4 stripe picked at one and they all went back in. Not sure if this is normal or what to do.
