A while back I used to feed quite a bit. Now I just kind of let them fend for themselves. Mysiids or blendermush works quite well.

I don't see why not. Has anyone noticed a difference in color, growth, or expansion size from feeding?

I feed my coral's every night. Here's the list.

1/2 cube brine shrimp
I use the salifert spoon
2 spoon's cyclopeeze
1 spoon phyto plan
1 spoon oyster eggs
and 2 ml Salifert AA's.

I just let that soak for a bit and add it right into the tank. Once a week or so i spot feed my lps, and that's when they really expand fully during the day.

Most LPS do better with period direct feeding of something substantial ... mysis/brine shrimp or chopped silversides. Many will feed a couple times a week .. I feed mine about every ten days or so.

So have you had any issues with increased waste, phosphates?

Direct feeding of something substantial is far less likely to create water quality issues since whatever your feeding goes directly to the corals. While cyclopse and other similiar food can be used its much more likely float around and isn't all that effecient when compared to placing a few pieces of mysis on your coral. Just my 02.

Good point! What about the waste that the LPS give off? I have seen some nasty stuff spew out of mine...

All life generates wastes .. corals aren't too particular about what they eat so you might consider their waste potential food for your other corals. Seems to me the real issue is whats the best method to provide nutrients to a particular type of coral that will maximize the benefit to the coral while minimizing the potential for excess nutrients within the tank. No magic answer but I suspect that occasional direct feeding of something substantial meets this criteria for most LPS.

Hope this helps.

Even though they produce waste, with coral's there is a net reduction of nutrient's in the tank.
