Where to place frogspawn?
I have two heads of frogspawn I got over the weekend. I have a 24 gallon aquapod with just 64watts of PC power. I have rock going to the surface of the water and shallow sand bottom.
Right now it is in the sand. I have had friends say this is enough light and it will do better in the sand. But it looks to me like it would do better being moved up much higher into the rock. Maybe 1/2 to 2/3 up.
I have a hammer that is 1/3-1/2 way up and fits perfect into a crevice. But the frogspawn does look cool i nthe sand.
Agree?

Mines always been in the sand, along with my hammer, candy cane and trumpet. IMO you should be fine with it where its at.

frogspawn is fairly versatile. I think you will be fine with it in the sand.

I agree that the frogspawn is pretty robust, but with the amount of lighting you have I'd consider moving it up. It definitely won't hurt.

well my frogspawn genrally will open more with less flow and i think it goes for all the other reefers and you dont have enough light. i mean with the bare minimum u need atleast 24x3 is 72 watts or more to 24x5 is 90 watts so try to put it closer to the top and not too much flow gl

I just picked up a small piece of frogspawn for $5 so I thought I would give it a shot. 30 gallon with 10 gallon sump, coralife aqualight PC 2x 65 watts. I placed mine up high too as I thought they needed much more light. Should I leave it high or move it to the sand?

In some systems, the flow can be a little to strong for these corals when placed at the top. Placing stony corals in the sand can create problems of its own. I would try to keep it in the rocks, but not in a high flow area. How far are the lights off the water?

the source of the coral is important, too, yes?
so if we get frogspawn from our LFs and take it right home, Is it ok to get it home, acclimate, and put it in an area similar to at the lfs (lights, flow, etc)?We usually go in the eve, so new critters have time with only room lights & time to calm down before tomorrow.
OR: should we follow the same procedure as if we got it in the mail - low light area 1st, then graaaadddually higher & etc.
guess I'm trying to ask, what usually stresses coral most about transport & how best to handle it. So far things have been going fine, but we'd like to keep it that way.
Thanks! (hope this isn't already a thread somewhere) and not trying to hijack this one, either. ) my body is up past my brain's bedtime.

Sorry for the late response, I have PC lights on the flip up mounting legs. They are about 5" above the water.
