What is this in my acan?


As the title says can you tell me what it is if you touch it it will go back in
oh and the white is food I was feeding the acan

I won't tell you what I think it looks like, but I will say it seems to be simply the mouth of the polyp. It's rare that I request a less detailed picture, but could you get one that's zoomed out a bit?

LOL I know it does look like that here is a wider view and if you look to the top right there is another one you can see from the side

It has been there since I bought it about 2-3 months ago. I can't find anything like it either. When you look at it it has like metallic gold in it like a clam just couldn't get it to show up in the pic

I would agree, some kind of bivalve.... but what kind?

I would post it on reef central and see what they say. I would keep watch and see how growth progresses, if you start to see the acan itself start tissue recession or die off then I would attempt to frag it to remove the "thing".

If nothing happens and it looks like a cohesive relationship without damage, leave it.

i thank it is a bivalve. i had one the was in a rock with a sun coral, and it was all black on the lips it put out . and stop thanking dirty about the lips and puting out .

Garry funny thing now that you mentioned it I totally forgot about it I have one in my orange sun coral to. Is this bivalve a common hitchhiker on LPS?

I'd say it's uncommon, but not incredible.

i dont know if they are or not ,it died and then the sun coral died soon after.we had it for ayearbefor we even found it in the coral.wise i still had that one.
