Anything you put on it should stimulte it to at least partially opne until it gets used to it and opens completely. If it is showing zero reaction to the smell of food, it is not happy. I would keep trying different foods. Go more for smaller stuff like oyster eggs and phyto or similar until you get the thing to respond. Once it opens up it will take pretty much anything

I know a person who frags theirs all the time and as soon as Cyclopeeze hits the water it opens up to feed. You may want to try that along with Fly Guy's suggestions.

I have a beautiful Sun Coral! I have had it for almost two years now, it has actually sent out polyps around the tank. I now have at least 6 rocks with baby Sun Polyps growing on them. I have mine in a cave type setting shading the light a bit with a power head blowing in it's general direction. Mine just loves Cyclopeeze too. I feed mine everynight between 9:00 - 10:00 PM with a syringe, usually 3 feedings does the trick.
I tried to upload pic, but not sure if it went.
Good luck with yours!

I have the orange and the black. At first I took mine out of the tank and put into a tupperware bowl and put a lot of mysis in there to get the smell. It took a few mins for it to open but it opened and I just took some tweezers and fed it and now I don't even take it out when food hits the water they open. You have to almost train them. Now mine stay open during the day. They are under a cave and are in med flow
