Lobo Hemph tissue problems
I rec'd a 6" lobophyllia a couple weeks ago. speciman looked good and had very minimal tissue damage from shipping. It was packaged very carefully. Since then, there has been some tissue die-off on 4 of the lobes. It appears to have stopped on 3 and considerably stopped or slowed on the other. Is this normal for lobos? What's the success rate with these through mail order? I'm just wondering if I've ordered a large, beautiful coral I should've stayed away from.
BTW, I have an established mixed 120g reef with good sps colonies and other lps so I don't attribute this to any water problems.

Lobo's can be kinda picky on shipping. just make sure you have it placed lower in the tank away from high light. to help it come back you will want to keep it in low flow too. good luck, can we see a picture?

you could also try spot feeding it a variety mush (mysis, oyster eggs, cycloeeze, plankton, brine, etc...), along with Twitterbait's suggestions. when feeding it try to get some to every mouth, as each mouth is a seperate animal (although they share the same skeleton).

I've tried feeding it but it doesn't seem like a lot of the food sticks. Maybe it does but it's kinda hard to see in my 2' deep tank. It does extend polyps.

i would just cover the polyps with food and leave it alone. at least you are getting a feeding response, when i got mine i had to FORCE feed it for a while. they wont eat a whole lot (not like a sun coral will).

Here's the little feller. I'm shooting at an angle through the glass so it's a little out of focus:
I really think this part was stung by a galaxia. It never produced sweepers until I put this lobo nearby:

it looks good and should recover. as long as the skin stays poofy over the skeleton.

Them galaxia corals are pretty wicked and aggressive. Good luck with the recovery.
