just a question

i posted about my new piece in a different thread but now i have a question about it, when i got it from the LFS it was staying shrivled up even at the store he said it hadnt looked good for a while, anyway i went ahead and bought it he gave me a good price on it because of its looks. it looks much better now like its not stressed out but is it normal for these to blow up like a balloon at night, it is huge when it does this and i think its moving at the same time..all the pics are after it started looking better.. but the 2nd and 3rd pic are of it blowing up to enormous size.. just wanted to make sure it was normal.. it just started doing it last night..

looks like a long tentacle plate coral, am i right?. if so it should not be moving... & it is normal for them to expand 3x there normal size, alot of LPS corals do.

yes its a long tentacle plate, but while it was blown up it did move about 4 inches away from the edge of the rocks, i had it kinda leaning on the bottom edge of one and it blew up and moved off of it, but it blows up only at night it seems, but ty i didnt know that they did that at least i know its normal... thanks again...

Plate corals can move themself and they also prefer to be in the sand. It looks really happy in your tank. You can also target feed it mysis

ty for the tip on what to feed it, it was looking a bit not so happy last night so i did spot feed it and today it was big and pretty again but how often should that be done.. you should have seen it when i brought the poor thing home, the guy at the LFS said it had looked bad since he got it but he had it crowded bad in a tank with lots of other stuff all shoved back in a corner, its tents were all shriveled looking, not drawn up just shriveled. after a few days here it started perking up after i figured out it did not like direct water flow all that well. but i did put it on the sand just kinda leaned it up against the rock and i guess it didnt want to touch the rock at all it hasnt moved since that night...
