mine was doing something similair about a week ago. It was spitting some junk out of 1 head and another wasn't opening at all. There were only two problems/changes I could figure out. First some how it had gotten moved ever so slightly by something. Second, I had changed the flow pattern in the tank. After I moved the hammer back to were it was originally and the flow back the way it was, everything was fine

i was just thinking the flow too, if i move my power heads even a little from the sweet spot i found. my Frogspawn gets really ticked off. When you do water changes its easy to move them on accident. I dont know if thats what happened with you , but its an idea..

I had repositioned my return from the sump. That's all it took.

well if you made the flow less thats probably better. But if you changed the flow to more, its probably not.

I sort of think it's your lighting...Your sun corals are doing well because they don't use the lights for photosynist (sp) but your hammers need the light so it can open to it's full extent. What wattage do you have on your tank and how old are the bulbs?

brown stuff coming from the mouth could be a couple of things. could be removing waste, but is more likely expelling simbiotic algae. Too much light? i don't think brown jelly is part of growing pains, it's a disease. hammers tend to be the toughest of the euphyllias for me. frogspawn and torches grow like weeds for me and hammers have always just kind of hung around. don't know why. anyway, we need more details about lighting and flow.
