Just one small little polyped head, or an entire branch? They'll come off if something brushes up against them, or if they're handled roughly. Nothing to worry about if it's a one time incident.

Glue it down! :)

I have a hammer, and have been cutting pieces off for a bit now. My $20 hammer with one head is now 2 "branching with 2 heads", 2 single heads, and an original trunk with about 5 very small heads growing on it.

If you need frag glue, check out justcoral.com - stuff is really nice, and water is an accelerant for it. Apply glue to a rock or plug, dip in water for a second, then press part of the coral through the "shell" of the glue, and wiggle it around. Then hold in place underwater for a bit, and VOILA!

Best of luck! Hammers are cool!

Having it in a high water flow will make pieces of it come off. Move it to a low stream.

its called polyp bailout.

It can be caused by stress whether it be poor water quality or just be trying to reproduce.

The fleshy head can grow a new skeleton although I have never seen it actually succeed without dying on euphyllia. I did have a candy cane that bailed just flesh and grew a skeleton though
