So I know they will sting other corals, but can they be near one another? Or are they best kept apart as well? Trying to figure where I am gonna put my new additions so I won't be aquascaping and acclimating at the same time.

They dont reach out very far jena. Nothing like a maze or star. At least not IME. I wouldnt think they would sting each other, but i owuld watch just in case.
Due to their shape and how far they reach out, i think you could put them right next to each other without issues anyway.
Beautiful specimens you picked up.

Not a problem in general for spp. to spp., and usually not a problem for conspecifics, however, I would watch and observe placement of conspecifics to make sure before I made such a placement permanent.

Thanks, now the waiting is just excrutiating! This is why I usually pick stuff from the lfs. But seeing as they havn't had what I want and I end up spending a small fortune for other stuff, I figured time to go online and get exactly what I want so I can quit spending my hubby's money.

a concept of biology where two or more individuals are of the same specie or same taxa as a generality (say, Favia stelligera and Favia speciosa) or of the very same species (say Favia stelligera and Favia stelligera )

So how do I get them to spread? Do they form a skeleton of their own or do they have to have rock to attach to? I moved them as close to another rock as I could hoping it will eventually spread onto the other rock. The rock they are on is covered so there is no were to grow on that rock.

Um, I just got a maze (now I know it's called a favia)... How far away should I keep my maze from other corals? And it was mentioned they expand, how big do they expand? Like 2x their size?
Thanks,
Babs

They only expand slightly...its the sweepers that can reach out 8-12" you have to worry about. Favia throw sweepers out as well, but ive never seen any of the sweepers off of any of my favia go out more than a few inches.

Mine doesn't send out sweepers I guess. Probably not even 1/2 a cm. Just watch them and move corals if they decide to send out the long ones.

Mine doesn't send out sweepers either... it just has the small tenticles that extend about a 1/4" out. Also... I spot feed mine krill about every other week.... Put my hand in and just place the food directly into the mouth. Very interesting to watch.

Put a coral a couple of inches from them, then check them out at night. If their bubble space isnt threatened, they usually wont throw them out.

My maze brain has a mouth? How do I find it? I don't see a mouth...

if you are able to.. look in the lower fleshy area for a small puckered area in that flesh... that is most likely the mouth. Maze may be to narrow to find. if that is the case, just put some krill in the extended tenticles and it should move it to the mouth.
