Elagance today

EC, Also forgot to mention that My tank is very difficult to reach the bottom and will have to use tongs to place the Elegance on the bottom, but it can be done. Also caught my Coral Bandit shrimps eating a bristle worm last night, Could the bristle or fire worm have been the culprit??
I respect your knowledge and experience. Today it has opened up a bit and seems to be getting better. I didn't do anything for the last day waiting for you advice. But the one thing a have done is move the Galaxia a little further away. The only thing that worries me about placing them on the bottom is that my tank is 29" deep and I use crushed coral for strata. Other then that I have several other species on the bottom that are doing well such as Clams, Welsophelia, Bubble coral,Gonapora and plates, please forgive my spelling. Should these conditions be a problem and if not should I try and find the Elegance a better lighted area on the bottom? Low flow for4 sure! I'll try to add some more pictures on the thread of the Elegance as it is doing today as well as some of my specimens that are on the bottom. I'll check my thread later for your response.
Thanx, Buntanding

These are fire worms. http://images.google.com/images?sour...=1&sa=N&tab=wi Hopefully you just have the small harmless bristle worms. They don't cause problems for elegance corals. The CB shrimp is a different story though. Elegance corals in that condition are very vulnerable. A good sized CB shrimp can poke holes in the tissue of elegance corals simply by walking across them. That may be what caused your elegance to withdraw in the first place. CB shrimp would have a very hard time walking across a healthy elegance without becoming a meal. Once your elegance starts to improve, it will be very hard to feed it with the CB shrimp in the tank.

My main concern is getting it out of high flow and in a position where nothing touches the top rim of the skeleton. Low flow for4 sure! Your elegance is pretty ill. It will be overly sensitive for a long time to come. Tank mates can be a real problem for an elegance in its condition. Fish will peck at them. Shrimp will harass them. I've even had Amphipods steal food from a sick elegance. Despite everything you may have read about these corals, water quality will be a huge factor in its recovery. Once you have it in a safe place, keep things as clean and stable as possible.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Moved her to the bottom 24 hours ago in a non shaded area. Nothing touches the upper outer rim of the skeleton with low to no current and she looks the same as the last picture posted in my Elegance Today thread in the LPS forum. At least it looks better then it did the other day when it was closed up.I expect it will take a few days after having been moved before it starts perking up and much longer to see any real improvement. My water parameters are all good with moderate skimming.
Do these creatures absolutely need to be fed? And if so how long can it go before I can try to feed it? I never fed them anything since I got them 2 months ago. The only thing that goes in my tank is Mysis,Phyto,Baby Brine. Thanks EC
