Dying Frogspawn?
I recently purchased this small frogspawn. Was doing great, opened even larger than at the LFS. We moved it up on the rocks the other day and this morning found it looking like this:
The tentacles are still in there just fully withdrawn. Any ideas? I haven't noticed any changes in water quality or anything else. Is it dying or just mad it was moved? Thanks!

What light set-up are you running? How close is the coral to the lights? I would put a fs close to the floor, especially if you have mh's. They are pretty hardy, but a lot of light can hurt them.

I would put it back where it was before you moved it.

What is your water flow like there? My frogspawn retracts strongly if there is too much flow.

As far as the lights, we only run 2x65 watt PC's, 1 6700kelvin and a 460 actinic. The flow seems to be about the same as where it was before, not blowing all over the place. I would say its tentacles gently sway in the current - if thats not general enough ;}
One odd thought as I am new to reefing. The night before it closed up I believe it stung our sixline. He was messing with it and then began to act funny and change colors (I believe some of you replied to that post). The frogspawn was placed right in the rock formation or six line sleeps so we moved it. Could the sting have caused it to shrivel? May be a dumb question. I will try moving it back. But do you think it has died or is dying? I fed it with phyto today and it sort of withdrew its tentacles for a bit. Good sign or bad?
BTW, thanks for all the help responding to these noobie questions, its a real help!

In general I never feed my corals directly. If you have fish that you feed there will be no need to feed your corals. The only time I feed corals directly is when I am not feeding "the tank" or I am trying to propogate a specific coral. Direct feeding of corals on a regular basis (especially phyto) can quickly lead to a build up of PO4 that will make the corals growth slow down dramatically.
This is obviously not the issue your having with the frog spawn.
Euphylias have tissue tearing issues. If you remove the animal from the water the weight of the animals flesh can cause its flesh to be ripped from it skeletin.
I don't think it is a light issue.

corals don't start acting like themselves until a couple days after purchase really. How long have you had it?...i would give it at least a week to see what might be happening. My hammer looked similar to that for a day or two and then it's as pretty as ever. hope everything works out!

Thanks for the tip, especially good to know about feeding corals. I tried coral frenzy once per a recommendation, looked like I was putting a cloud of sewage in my tank. i think I will skip on the phyto, especially as the corals were looking good before I started feeding. As for the FS, its about 6 days from when I purchased it and already moved it once. Though it was looking great the first few days, had even gotten bigger with better color that it had in my LFS tank. I will keep you posted, so far there has been no progress.

Good point...simply removing corals like euphyllia from the water without first causing them to close up can damage the tissue...any chance you or the LFS employee might have inadvertantly damaged it?

That's interesting, I didn't realize that. There is a good possibility they did that when removing it from the tank. Today I checked and FS is definitly gone. Now more tentacles. I hope it doesn't indicate a bigger problem.
My perams are good I believe:
temp 77-79, though last night the temp dropped and I hit 76.4
salinity 1.025-1.026 with evaporation
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 5-10
pH 8.3
Ca 370 (dosed with essential elements by kent)
water flow was moderate in the area of FS, I would say he would gently wave in the current. Any thing else?
