differences?

There's a neat looking frag of some form of candy cane at my lrs. I was planning on getting it. The thing I was wondering is that the colony he's pretty sure it broke off of has a lot of space between the polyps. Would it likely stay that way when it started to grow, or would it likely grow polyps that were sorta close together? Is there even a difference between the ones that look... hm, I can't type what I'm wanting to say like the ones that look like a brain coral vs. the ones that have a lot of space between the polyps, or is it just tank conditions or something?

Alright. Also, should I put it on the sand or the rocks? I've heard either is fine, but I would rather know for sure. Or is it one of those things that as long as the polyp is up it doesn't really matter?

Hm, I ended up with another form of it They got a shipment in yesterday and got my favourite colour(or one of the ones close to it anyway) in. The sort that is brown on the outside of the polyp and green near the mouth. He sold it to me as a 2 head frag, though the heads are still attached, no biggie though, as the bigger head also looks like it is ready to divide again, has 2 mouths. Very pretty. The other frag I got was a blasto. Forget which variety he said. The one that grows longer stems. He had a nive big $70 colony of it and snipped me off a few polyps. I've got the blasto up near the top of the tank, and the candy cane towards the middle of it. Both are in about the best restricted flow I can get without putting them under something >_>

very nice they need to puff a bit but they should do fine. go ahead and move the CC up a bit and don't worry about the flow, they will do fine.

rock is better for them because the heads can get damaged by phosphate whicking if they are stuck in a sandbed.

Okay. I'll move it up some then. I know they look po'd. I took those pics within minutes of them being in my tank One thing I'm slightly concerned about. More with the candy cane. The really white spots in the pic look almost like a bit of skeleton irl. Should I be doing something to make sure that it is okay, or is it likely just ticked about being moved? I got both corals the night after they came in>_> Also, how should I feed them? Currently I'm using a half capful of marine snow per week(since I don't have too many corals) though I don't think those or the shrooms would really like that. I know both are too small for mysis, the mouths are tiny. I'd really like to target feed both LPS and the shroomy things I have(2 heads of rics and 2 regular mushrooms, plus a pest in a small tank to itself) until they get established. What should I give them, if anything?
