candy cane coral

I have a three head candy cane but for the last month it has stayed retracted It used to puff up when the lights were on I was wondering if it had a dormant grow stage

Candies are pretty forgiving of many things. Did you move it recently? Maybe to a much higher light location? Large increases in light intensity over a very short period of time will burn them after just a day.

Another issue might be not mixing water change water for 24 hours prior to doing a water change. Freshly mixed unseasoned ASW is quite caustic.
