Question

Can you frag a Bubble Coral?

My daughter gave me a bubble coral about eighteen months ago, when it was little more than a frilly set of plates and a couple of bubbles. We weren't even sure it would survive the first few months. Now, the coral is dominating a corner of my 55 gallon reef tank. Not that I mind...! Obviously, I'm doing something right in the tank!

Anyhoo, has anybody out there ever fragged a bubble coral? Is it as simple as cutting off a section of the plates, without cutting into the coral? Any help would be appreciated.

Bob

when fragging a bubble coral you will almost always cut some tissue (at least 99% of the time). about the only time you wont is if you are fragging off a dead piece of the skeleton.

Great information. Thanks! I knew that I had come to the right place! I don't have a diamond bit for my Dremel, just the wheels. I'll probably go out and get one this weekend, and see what I can do. I don't have any recent pictures, but I'll post some when I get 'em!

you can use the normal cutting wheels too, it will just take longer.
