ALL corals are kind of filter feeders, aren't they?
I've kept feather dusters, and things like that. But nothing I've ever had to hand feed specifically. I feed the tank, and support whatever life can be sustained from that.

by filter feeders i was meaning Non- Photosynthetic corals (feather dusters fall into that category)
Adding phyto,Chroma,Zoo & Snow plankton may help a little with sun corals but they really need to be fed alot of shrimp, & other meaty foods every other day or 2 days. without using a shield like a pop container top or external feeding chamber, you will crash your tank REALLY soon.
all non-photosynthetic corals are pretty much the same about that, just differ in the types of food to feed them.
Dosent bother me that much to feed my corals this way, ive raised baby parrots, lizards, snakes, turtles, cats, chamelions, basically the same principle.just keeping the food OUT of the tank so you dont get cyanno or crash is really the most important step.

Sun corals are not a difficult coral to keep. I wouldnt even call them a " filter feeder" anything on the level of non photosynthetic gorgonia or carnations. They will eat almost anything, any sort of blender mush like most LPS, and assuming you feed them, are very hardy and nearly anyone can keep them.

This is mine.
He's only little but eats alot of mysis and is open all day.
Thinking of getting a little pink-sun buddy to go with him.
One of the cheapest corals i've ever bought and one of the prettiest.

I love sun corals...mine is easy to feed and spends alot of time open so it makes it a great colorful piece in my tank.

a little flow and a good clean up crew goes a long way in keeping algae down.

pretty awsome idea on page one to feed them with. I have been thinking of adding some of these corals to my tank. They are striking for sure.

Just curiuos if those of you who've had them for a while still like them.

They are very nice, but require alot of attention.I have had large colonies before and I hate seeing anything die.. Not quite worth it for me with all the other awesome LPS corals out there. I love to look at them though

I don't know that I still think they are worth it. I think they are very beautiful but I think they are a pain! I love them when they are out though.
