Brain loosing tissue

Had this guy three days and he expands well at night but noticed that he is loosing tissue. One section is nothing but skeleton. No obvious parasites, no fish nipping on him, what is could be causing this? Does he stand a chance? Or will the tissue just keep dissappearing? All test ammonia, trites, trates are zero. No phosphate test but use phosban so should not be any phates either.
This is an open brain btw. 64 watt pc and the brain is in the sandbed. Only place doing this is where its touching the sand(could spagetti worms be eating it?)

They can be really touchy. Try putting it in area of low flow and light.

I have moved it and turned the daylights off. With just acentics on the brain is beginning to open back up. This really has me at a loss. I really didn't think it needed to be light acclimated since the tank it came from had mh (tho that tank was twice as deep as mine). I am going to chalk this up to lighting.
